Long COVID & SSDI

Can I get disability for long COVID?

Yes. Social Security recognizes long COVID as a real medical condition that can qualify for disability benefits. The question is never the diagnosis label. It is whether your symptoms keep you from working full time for at least twelve months.

The symptoms that most often support a claim are the ones long haulers know too well: post-exertional crashes, crushing fatigue, brain fog that makes sustained concentration impossible, POTS and dysautonomia, shortness of breath, and heart complications.

Why these claims get denied, and how they get won

Long COVID claims fail when the file doesn't document what the person actually lives with. Normal-looking lab results don't mean you aren't disabled, but they do mean the claim has to be built carefully: consistent treatment records, the right specialist documentation, and evidence that connects symptoms to the inability to hold a full-time job. That is attorney work, and it is the difference between the denials you have heard about and the awards you haven't.

What to do now

Keep treating. A documented treatment relationship is the backbone of a claim. And find out where you stand before a deadline decides for you. Our case review is free, takes about ten minutes, and a family member can complete it for you.
